I am helping teach English classes for High-School students and meet weekly with different groups of students from the age of twelve to fifteen years old. We discuss different cultural aspects of the US with students as a way to make them aware of cultural differences between Spain and U.S. In doing so, I have gained first-hand information about life in Spain.

I work as an English teacher in a primary school in Barcelona. I chose this internship because of my interest in school psychology and my aspirations to become a school psychologist in an elementary school. With a minor in Spanish, I also wanted to apply my knowledge of the language and enhance my communication skills. Thus, interning in a private school in Barcelona, learning the education system in Spain, helping the students improve their English skills and providing them with an American role model and mentor has definitely been a worthwhile experience and has further prepared me for my future career aspirations in the field of education psychology.

With this internship I have learned how rewarding it is to be a teacher. I really like the fact that I am using my knowledge to better the skills of others. Similarly, thanks to this internship, I have also realized that the greatest way to learn about another culture is to experience it through the eyes of someone who lives in it every day. Case in point, what this internship is all about. Experiencing something first hand is way better than reading about it in a book. We are more interesting to the students as cultural specimen than the teacher is talking about how Americans are this and that.

I meet weekly with different groups of students from the age of twelve to fifteen years old. We discuss different cultural aspects of US with students as a way to make them aware of cultural differences between Spain and U.S. In doing so, I get first hand information about life in Spain. Students are very curious about US and they always ask a thousand questions. I am learning a lot about Spain's perception over America, something that has helped me to interact in Spanish culture more successfully than if I was not involved in an internship.

I teach English classes for primary school children. I work with small groups of children from the ages of nine to eleven years old. Under the supervision of their English teacher, I design communicative activities, play songs, dance and use small sketches to help the children learn and play while learning English. The opportunity to speak and listen to native English speakers and learn about American culture is very appreciated here. I feel very welcomed and supported by the school.

I work in a High School working as Gym and English teacher: I encourage conversation for small groups in English and also co-ordinate with the Gym teacher different activities to promote American sports and aerobic exercises. I am appreciating more and more how Teaching Methodology can apply to more than just the language classroom! Many of the theories and techniques described in our reading and found in the classroom would also be helpful for counsellors, personal trainers, public health educators and guest lecturers, which are all fields in which I am interested.
