The kids I work with have taught me a lot in the short amount of time that I've been here in Barcelona. I have learned to be more patient and to be a better listener. I have also helped offer the kids educational and emotional support so as to help them improve their self-esteem and obtain educational success. More importantly, I've been able to offer them an ear for listening, an arm for hugging, and a mouth for offering encouragement and praise which I hope will make a difference in a few kids' lives.

I chose to serve the community by being out in the world, physically helping others. I help them develop a new skill, work on some problems, and ultimately try and give them something to take back with them so that they in turn can help themselves and their local communities. I have the privledge of helping to bridge together two distinct cultures, Muslims and Christians, that are at present and in the past in conflict with one another. This in itself is amazing to me! Working with the kids has been wonderful and a challenge at the same time. I would encourage anyone who wants to partake in an internship here to do one!

I am in a Service Learning Placement helping underprivileged youth in Barcelona. I have met great people and hopefully improved the lives of some less fortunate individuals in the city. Being a part of this placement has made me a better person I am thankful to have been given the opportunity.
