Intensive Internship

Intensive Internship Program

The IES Barcelona Summer Intensive Internship Program is open to undergraduate students with one or more semesters of Spanish language. It offers excellent placements with business, social, and not-for-profit organizations, in addition to a Spanish language course or an area studies course taught in Spanish (this last option is only available for those students who place in the Heritage track).

The program consists of eight weeks working on a project that will build your resume, give you an advantage in graduate school, or offer you a job experience that could help you decide your future. Academic learning is integrated with practical experience.

The Internship Program involves:

  • 16 hours a week in the work setting
  • a seminar that meets twice a week and that accompanies the internship, worth 3 credits, and
  • either (i) Spanish classes that meet daily, worth 4 credits or (ii) an Area Studies course taught in Spanish, worth 3 credits (only available for students who placed in SP400)

Please note that one or more semesters of college-level Spanish language, or the equivalent, is required for the Summer Intensive Internship Program.

Start Date: May 19th        Program Length: 8 weeks
End Date: July 19th        Total Credits: 6/7
