Students will learn how to solve real situations referred to personal and social needs in the present of indicative. By means of specific tasks, students gain knowledge of the conjugation of regular and irregular verbs in the present, reflexive verbs, adjectives used for descriptions, greetings and courtesy formulae. To improve written communication, they practice with simple messages and postcards. An oral presentation is done at the end of the semester describing some cultural aspect of Spain.

Students will learn Spanish at the high-beginners level using communicative activities and specific tasks. They will be able to solve real situations referred to personal and social needs using the present indicative of regular and irregular verbs, main differences between ser and estar, reflexive verbs, imperative, preterite and imperfect of regular verbs, and the future form ir a + infinitive. They will also learn how to write personal letters and will do a final oral presentation comparing the main differences between the American and the Spanish cultures.

This course is designed for those students that aim to have very good control, in one term, of the basic principles of Spanish beginning at a basic level and reaching the intermediate level The class will study in a communicative style, verb conjugations of the present and past indicative, reflexive verbs, imperative, uses of ser and estar, future with ir a + infinitive, agreement of nouns and adjectives. Likewise, students will read actual adapted texts, present orally some cultural aspect of Spain and write a personal journal to improve their writing skills.
