La Boqueria

Markets are symbolic of the mediterranean region. Bustling with local life, colours, smells, sounds and fresh local produce, a visit to your local market can be a valuable inter-cultural experience.

Your professor will take you on a guided tour around one of the most famous local markets of the mediterranean region, La Boqueria. Located not far from the IES centres, this market is frequented by locals and tourists alike.

There are two different field studies to the Boqueria: with the Mediterranean Environment class and the Catalan Beginners Language class. Activities included in this language field study are buying ingredients and preparing a regional dish. With the Mediterranean Environment class you will learn about the origins of local mediterranean produce.
