SOS RacismeThe association SOS Racism has been in the spotlight recently in the Spanish media. SOS Racism has played an important roll in bringing to light the mistreatment of Sub Saharian refugees being deported from Marruecos. This NGO, based in Barcelona, fights for equal rights for immigrants living in Catalonia. This field study, which forms part of the Cross Cultural Psychology and the Migration in a Globalized world classes, will involve a visit to the headquarters of this internationally renowed organisation, and a presentation of the various projects currently in development. In recent years Barcelona has become a popular destination for immigrants to Spain, and with this increase in immigrants there has been an increase in racism as well. On their visit to SOS Racisme, students will hear an overview of the program as well as about the racsim problem in general. They will also have the chance to give their opinion of the problem, and whatever suggestions they have to help combat it. This field-study provides the opportunity for students to get a behind-the-scenes look at what life is like for many people living in Barcelona. Here is a link for more information on SOS Racisme:
