Ibn Batuta Association

The Association Ibn Batuta is a non-political, non-profit organization which promotes social and cultural education within the magrabi immigrant community of Barcelona. It offers an opportunity to learn about and exchange ideas of two very distinct cultures, the countries of the Magreb region and the local community in Barcelona. The aim of this association is to encourage a better understanding of the culture, history and tradition of this region.

Ibn Batuta also offers assistance to recent immigrants struggling to obtain visas or residence permits or looking for general advice on how to establish themselves in Barcelona.

This field study is part of the Women in Mediterranean Literature Class. You will visit the Association Ibn Batuta, recieve a guided tour of the facilities and a presentation of the work done there: the Women's Space, reserved for Magrebi women, and the various intercultural projects currently underway at the centre.
