Jose Luis Echeverria

Jose Luis Echeverria studied Architecture at the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) and obtained a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design at Columbia University (2001), where he was also awarded the Kinne Travel Fellowship Award for the investigation Lima-Rio de Janeiro-Caracas: towards a Third Generation of Urban Renewal Strategies.

He has been awarded the Premio Nacional de Arquitectura de Venezuela for the investigation La Guaira: Localities and Re-combinant Systems and the American Institute of Architects Award for the theoretical design proposal Housing Alternatives in Harlem, New York City.

He has lectured and taught seminars at Columbia University, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), the ETSAB and The Bartlett, and has been a jury member at New York City College and Columbia University.

From 2003 to 2004 he was the Head of Studies of the Institut d'Arquitectura Avançada de Catalunya, where he directed the Master of Advanced Architecture Program. He has also taught at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) and has coordinated the graduate program "Projectar el Temps" at the ETSAB (2001-2002).

In 2006, he was a Visiting Critic at Syracuse University School of Architecture together with Jordi Mansilla and Jorge Perea. In addition, he has been teaching second year design studio at the Escola d'Arquitectura de La Salle since 2002.

Some of his work has been published in AD Architectural Design (2006), Quaderns d'Arquitectura i Urbanisme (2004). A+T (2003), Architectural Record (2002), Oculus (2001) and Europan6 España (2001).

He is currently pursuing a MBA from ESADE Business School.
