Ira Potashner

Originally from Montreal, Canada I grew up in Connecticut and did my undergraduate degree in London, England. I spent a year studying in Madrid before returning to the US for 8 years to do a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I have been visiting Spain since 1993 and I am thrilled to be living in Spain once again.

I am very interested in international student issues, having been one myself for many years, as well as in multicultural/diversity issues in education and graduate training programs. I believe that both clinical work and education are important forums to help individuals develop their own unique sense of self and culture, and should provide a safe yet challenging space in which individuals can strengthen their critical thought and ability to voice their ideas and experiences.

I am excited to get to know those of you taking my class and learning about yourselves, your cultures and your new adventures in Spain!
