I am both American and British, although I was raised most of my life in Philadelphia, in the States. I hold a masters degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. and a PhD in political science from the University of Nottingham in England. My academic focus is on what we call in the United Kingdom 'territorial politics', the study of nationalism and politics in multinational states (in my case, I focus on Scotland and Catalonia). I also study broader issues relating to Spanish politics, particularly education and immigration policies.
I have lived in the United States, England, France, Italy, and now Spain, and before turning to academic pursuits, I worked as marketing director at two different study abroad programs in San Francisco and New York. I speak French, Spanish and Catalan in addition to my native English. I love traveling and cooking.
